RMI.net Enters Domain Name Game (internet.com, April 28th)
RMI is a firm on a mission. They've released a theoretical product that aims to alleviate the threat of domain name poaching by speculators by presenting trademark holders with a way through which to regster their name as a domain, with the dot placed three characters from the end of the word (so as to avoid using a traditional TLD extension such as .com). If I've completely confused you, the illustrative example used in this article is John Deere operating their website under johnde.ere. I don't even know why I'm reporting this as news, since it's one of the most ludicrous ideas I've had the misfortune of hearing, but it's worthy of a chuckle.
